kinetic art to release the mind
Each structure employs vibratory feedback its own manner, providing a range of unique experiences and rewarding exploration. Some structures are oriented for sitting, others for laying on, while a few have more ambiguous modes of interaction, encouraging more creative expression by not predefining a single obvious means of engagement.
THE BASS BED
THE BASS BED project is a mobile interactive installation that augments an A-frame swinging bed design and with a set of powerful subsonic bass drivers which send full-body vibrations of a live music feed through participants’ bodies. Continually refined over a decade of installs and iterations, the Bed is designed for socializing and relaxation - the music-triggered vibrations keep participants feeling like they are still a part of the action while they safely relax in heightened environments. It has appeared at Electric Forest, Figment, and numerous Chicago and midwestern art and music events.
The Bass Bed operates as the foundation of a modular platform, with various aesthetic enhancements and upgrades (such as an LED crown) easily added to the top or sides of the structure as needed to match an event.
VIBE VAN
VIBE VAN combines a vibrating false floor, lasers, lighting, and fog into a mobile party. The moveable aspect also makes it a prime piece to use as guerrilla art - to roll up on random events, pop open the doors, and invite the curious into a mini-wonderland.
THE CUBE
THE CUBE is an expansion of the Bass Bed concept which includes fully immersive video projection. Four short throw projectors are placed on three of the sides and above the structure, which has been modified to be - instead an A-frame - a four point suspension pendulum swing. In development for years, it is also a modular platform for creation of diverse interactive and synesthetic multimedia visual/tactile experiences fueled by custom software and hardware developed specifically for this project.
The Cube can have multiple channels of live visuals fed to a moving, swinging structure, driven by interactive inputs such as cameras and motion trackers.
It can be used as the ultimate "go-go" box for dancers, or used as a chill spot for people to lie down on and experience the immersive visuals and vibrations. It can be suspended from truss or a brought to a single point via an add on structure to allow it to be hung from a crane hook, allowing multiple options for its install.
PURR SIMULATOR
PURR SIMULATOR, first deployed at Love Burn 2022 in Miami, is a fur-covered huggable vibrating sculpture that simulates the purring of cat by moving binaural vibrations up and down the bodies of (one to four simultaneous) participants. An entirely one-of-a-kind contraption, it has an aura of mystery that invites both the curious and the adventurous to experience touch in a completely novel way.
